Silent Read - Students have their own silent read books to review - 20 min.

*Remind students we will review their pair work re: Vancouver and RV Rally next class. - They have all completed this prior work from Friday but were expecting to review it today - I will review with them next Tuesday Feb 18 2024.

Students have just started No Fixed Address - have just finished 'August' - in terms of Felix and Astrid just having completed the task of going through ALL of their items (everything they own) and taking 'only the essentials' for their 'summer' trip in the Van - how does the below video connect to their experience? Does it? Are their similar themes you can identify so far?

Post Viewing - have students work in pairs or max groups of 3 - Group Work - to create a summary paragraph re: the piece above. Lined paper at the front of the room. Extra pencils behind the teacher desk in the white bucket - students must sign these out (name on board) and then return them. 

Paragraphs - min 5-7 sentences including an introduction, examples/evidence (2-3) and a concluding statement - conclusion. TASK: Summary of the video - key take aways.

Groups - Be ready to present - if time today - if not next day.

Topic Sentences : A strong topic sentence introduces the main idea of the paragraph, clearly stating what the paragraph will be about.
