Review the Themes

  • In No Fixed Address, several important themes are explored, including:
NOTES: If you are in band and did not get these last week!

Homelessness and Displacement: The challenges of living without a permanent home.
Family and Belonging: The importance of family relationships, but also the ways in which they can be complicated or fractured.
Friendship and Loyalty: How true friends help and support each other, especially during difficult times.
Identity and Self-Discovery: How Felix, struggles with his identity and his place in the world.
Social Inequality: The divide between those with wealth and stability and those who are struggling or living on the margins.

Reflection Task - Independent Work: Due in class.


  • Choose one of the themes listed above and answer the following questions in 2-3 sentences each.

  • a. Why do you think this theme is important in the story?
  • b. Give an example from the book that shows how this theme is developed.
  • c. How does this theme relate to real-life issues that people face today?
